We finally got to play the Oak Hollow Course after getting rained out.  It's really pretty and again a bit of a challenge.....at least for me. A father/daughter joined us as well, and then we got to see a sight I've never seen before.....a guy in a "kilt golf skirt".

It was great having dinner last night with Kathy and Larry Webb on our last evening in the Winston Salem area.  Kathy and I used to work together, and it was really nice to catch up.  We're hoping to get them to visit in FL once Larry retires next April.

We set out this morning to head toward NY planning to go as far as Harrisonburg, PA today.  We had a nice view of Pilot Mountain, Mt. Airy, NC on the way out of town.  We ended up with a bit of a delay as a young man ran into the side of the coach.  Luckily, no one was injured but we had traffic backed up as we sat on the side of I81 waiting for the police.

After some heavy rain last night, it was touch and go whether or not we would be able to play golf, but thankfully the rain really cooled off the temp.  We decided to go with overcast skies but it turned out to be a great day with a breeze at Pine Knolls Golf Course, Kernersville, NC with friends Debbi and Arnold Butner.

Arrived Oak Hollow, High Point, NC yesterday and looking forward to golfing here at their course as well as a few others in the area.  Today we went to a picnic at Debbi and Arnold Butner's house.  It was fun spending time with them and meeting some of their friends as well.  We hope to play golf with them tomorrow if the rain holds off.

Today was a special day because I was able to reconnect with my cousin, Kim Gauss and her husband Tav, after many years.  I truly think the last time I saw her was in my 20s.  Her father is my Godfather and lives in Wilson, NC.  He had told me that Kim and Tav had a home here in the mountains so it was great that we were able to find them here at this time.  We had a wonderful time catching up and hope to be able to do more of that when we visit this area again.

Another beautiful day in the mountains with cool temps so we could eat outside.  We are going to miss this as we head out tomorrow to hotter weather again. 




Then on to historic Jonesborough, TN, well known for it's Story Telling Festival. They are getting ready for a big July 4th weekend with crafts, food and music.

Today was an absolutely perfect golf day at Sugar Mountain Resort.  The temperature was in the 70s most of the day with a cool breeze.  The course is an Executive course with lots of par 3s and much shorter lengths on the longer holes that we are used to.......so I really liked it.  There were still lots of elevation changes so it was still a challenge.
